Zalucky Contemporary is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new work by Toronto-based artist Shane Krepakevich.

Lightweight is an exhibition of new work that continues Shane Krepakevich’s interest in the overlap of art and design. His practice is characterized by the integration of aesthetics with an object’s use and context, and has manifest as collaborative exhibition design, multiples, writing, and sculpture. In this exhibition, architecture, interiors, and décor serve as reference points united through a focus on surface effects and their images.

The photo and sculpture-based works in Lightweight present surface as a metaphor for contact, connection, and transformation. Krepakevich’s new series juxtapose the materiality of interior surfaces – textured clear glass, reflective metals and mirrors, contrasting paint finishes – to distill our experience of these elements and prompt a reconsideration of the spaces we inhabit.
